Year 5 & 6 Students Attend BSME Games |
Earlier this month children from year five and six travelled with us to Qatar for the BSME (British Schools in the Middle East) Games 2008 which were held at the Al Khor International School near Doha . The Horizon squad consisted of 26 dedicated and determined children who had been training hard to achieve success in all the five disciplines of swimming, netball, football, athletics and basketball. Points were awarded for performance in each of these events and added together to give an overall position.
As one of the smallest of the 12 schools involved many of our children took part in most of the events. They were all outstanding, performing and behaving extremely well. They competed with pride, put a huge amount of effort into everything that they did and conducted themselves in an incredibly sporting and friendly manner at all times. They are all winners as far as we are concerned and the endeavour and commitment shown meant that the position of sixth overall was the very least that they deserved.
Many congratulations and thank you to all the children involved for being so well-behaved and such wonderful representatives for Horizon School . You have all made us all very proud! Thank you also to the parents who came along and supported and helped to make the experience such a special one. |

Nappy Collection for Sierra Leone Orphanage |
| Horizon School has been supporting charitable organisation All as One for over a year now. Upon hearing recently that the orphanage was in desperate need for nappies, our children, staff and parents collected an enormous ammount of nappies to be sent over to Sierra Leone. |

Horizon School's Environmental Committee |
We are currently in the process of developing our school into a more environmentally friendly school. Some of the teachers and parents have been meeting to discuss ways in which this can be achieved. Our environmental web page is under construction and a new environmental policy is having the finishing touches put to it. We will be looking at ways in which environmental issues can be included in the school's curriculum. If you would be interested in being involved in this committee please click on the recycling symbol to be taken to the environmental page.
