The Parent Teacher Association

As a parent of children at Horizon School for the last five years, I am delighted to lead out PTA into an exciting new year. I have always felt that the PTA is a fun and productive way to be involved in the school. Horizon's PTA aims to organise fun events for children and parents alike throughout the year. Our other main function is to raise funds for the school to help buy any items of equipment ro toys that will enhance the environment our children are in.

Throughout the years we have organised beach parties, discos, bake sales, hot dog days and of coursea real favourite - International Day. As we are a very new PTA we welcome any new ideas and of course any new volunteers. The PTA is comprised of a small group of parents and in order to run these events we will be seeking out parentsto supervise, help serve refreshments and of course, join in the fun.

I would also like to mention the role of the class mum or dad within the PTA. Each class will have a representative. Throughout the year we will call on these parents to assist in organising volunteers for each event. For myslef, the most rewarding part of being involved at these events is watching our children have fun and interact with their peers outside of the classroom.

I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am Tina and my husband's name is Peter. Our children are Caoimhe in 4L, Sean in 2S and Alanna has just started in Green Go-Carts. We orginally come from Ireland.

If you have any ideas or suggestions as to how we can improve the PTA please feel free to contact me directly by clicking here or through your class mum or dad.

From time to time we have very informal coffee mornings where we invite everyone along to find out what we have planned and also to borrow your expertise and imagination to create something new. The PTA notice board is sitauted through the school reception are to the right. Please check regularly for more information and dates of upcoming events.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you throughout the year.
