I am delighted to welcome you to the Horizon School web site. I am privileged to be a part of Horizon School where the family atmosphere of a small school still prevails. The international 'make-up' of the school and the underlying school ethos of respect and understanding towards others and their cultures creates a rewarding and stimulating environment for pupils and staff in which to learn and work.

It is my belief that we have a responsibilty to nurture the whole child in school and enable them with the skills to think for themselves.

'If we are not thinkers we lose the essence of being human. Children need to be provided situations where they have to think for themselves. Learning is a consequence of thinking. Effective learning occurs not when humans assimilate others' thoughts, but when they work things out for themselves.'

It was lovely meeting with many of you at the 'meet the teacher' meeting in September. I enjoyed reading the responses you gave. Please click here if you would like to download a copy of the presentation that I gave. You can also download the 'Shift Happens' presentation by clicking here.

Committed pupils, supportive parents and dedicated staff work together to maintain an open and dynamic environment ensuring a forward thinking and forward moving school.

I would like to share with you the findings from the questionnaire that I sent to you last year. Please click here to see what you said.

As you peruse our site I am sure you will enjoy visiting our children and experiencing their challenging and well-rounded school life.

Please remember that you are welcome to join me for an informal coffee every Sunday from 12:45pm for parents of children in FS1 & 2 and at 1:45pm for parents of children in Key Stage One and Two in the school staff room to give me your feedback on our school. Alternatively, you can always give your feedback by emailing me. Please click here to do so.

With my best regards,
